The UK Freeview service is terrestrial and it's HD channels are not
available here (yet).

You probably refer to the UK Freesat service. Currently there are two free
HD channels available here on Freesat, BBC HD and ITV1 HD (The ITV service
is a mixture of native HD and upscaled HD programming).

You can find out more here:
www.freesat.co.uk

This site has more freesat information including equipment:
www.joinfreesat.co.uk

If you have a working Sky dish, any Freesat HD receiver can be connected in
place of the Sky receiver to receive all Freesat programming.
